Worcester, Massachusetts
Chan Krieger Sieniewicz provided urban design and master planning services for approximately 75-acres of downtown Worcester. Areas of focus include: (1) articulate an urban design plan, developing specific design standards and review mechanisms for projects planned within the downtown; (2) provide ongoing design review of significant projects currently underway; and (3) engage the community in the planning effort through public workshops or charrettes. The master plan originated with the proposed $580 million development of several major projects, including: a $150 million, 25-acre medical complex; a $40 million renovation of the Worcester Galleria mixed-use complex; and the development of a 100,000 square feet convention center expansion. The planning effort included a coordination of the Office of the City Manager, Worcester Redevelopment Authority, and Office of Planning and Community Development.
