Trinity River
Dallas, Texas
For 75 years, the Trinity River has been an Army Corps of Engineers flood canal, segregating the Downtown from the West Dallas and Oak Cliff neighborhoods.
Under the new plan, the floodway will be transformed with a meandering river channel, new forested pockets, wetlands and two mile-long lakes fed with treated urban wastewater. The banks of the Trinity River would become desirable sites for new residential and commercial development in Central Dallas. New roadway infrastructure, including a slower speed, narrower parkway would be designed to be compatible with new park design and programming while providing superior access and views to new development and recreation.
