South Capitol Street
Washington, DC
This study was directed by Congress to recommend improvements to South Capitol Street between Independence Avenue and the Suitland Parkway and on New Jersey Avenue between Independence Avenue and M Street Southeast.
The urban design study identifies methods to promote commercial, recreational and residential activities and improve pedestrian and vehicular access along the corridor. The goal of this study is to identify methods to promote South Capitol Street as a corridor of national significance.
The South Capitol Street study builds on the principles defined by the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative Framework Plan, developed by Chan Krieger Sieniewicz in 2002.
