UMASS Dartmouth
Campus Master Plan
Dartmouth, Massachusetts

Chan Krieger Sieniewicz served as campus planner for a comprehensive campus master plan and expansion of a 40-year-old, 215-acre, 1.6 million square feet campus originally master planned by Paul Rudolph. The goals of the campus plan include: develop a strategy to expand the campus as enrollment increases from 6,000 to 10,000 students and residential capacity increase from 2400 to 5000 beds; attract and retain students; renew critical building systems and infrastructure; clarify pedestrian, vehicular, parking, and service circulation; enhance the sense of place and landscape; provide and improve social spaces for both residential and commuter students; ensure that future growth does not adversely impact surrounding neighbors; provide a strategy for sustainable growth for buildings and the surrounding landscape.
