Rhode Island School of Design
Campus Plan
Providence, Rhode Island

This sixteen-month master plan, completed in August 1996, was for a 120-year-old art college that owns approximately 1.2 million square feet of space. More than one half of the 46 academic, administrative and residential buildings were built in the 18th and 19th century and are listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. The goals of the master plan included: realign space use to the school's needs; define processes that will flexibly respond to future changes; and establish guidelines that strengthen the sense of identity and place, foster community, and enhance RISD's relationship to downtown Providence and the surrounding residential neighborhood.

Chan Krieger Sieniewicz was hired in 2003 to update this plan.
