Citizen Schools/Children's Museum
Boston MA
Chan Krieger Sieniewicz redesigned the lobby for The Children's Museum of Boston, including the relocation and replacement of their Recycle Store. Two new reception desks were custom designed to house security functions, greeting, ticketing and diaper dispensing. The second floor lobby space was unified with a tile floor inspired by Mondrian's "Broadway Boogie-Woogie".
Housed in the same building are the offices of Citizen Schools. A modest budget and a struggle to maintain a sense of the wonderful open loft space while providing for the necessary acoustical privacy for meetings gave rise to a strategy of floating small structures, which are more like large pieces of furniture rather than rooms, in the space.
Chan Krieger subsequently redesigned the Citizen Schools offices to accommodate their recent growth.
