Bessemer Court Pedestrian Bridge
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Chan Krieger Sieniewicz was the Design Architect for the Bessemer Court Pedestrian Bridge, located in Station Square, a 52-acre entertainment development across the Monongahela River from the Golden Triangle of downtown Pittsburgh.
The 140 foot long bridge will allow pedestrians to get down to the riverfront via an elevator and stairs. Visitors will be able to walk to a public marina and a floating boardwalk in the river, holding an entertainment venue called The Landing.
Designed to provide viewing areas of the fountains at Bessemer Court, the Monongahela River and the city skyline beyond, the bridge features contemporary industrial materials, steel and glass, reflecting the industrial heritage of the historic site and protecting a location prone to seasonal flooding.
